EDITORIAL STANDARDS

Editorial & Independence Policy

WattVerdict exists to make the UK plug-in solar market easier to understand. This policy explains how we research, test and publish information, and how we keep commercial relationships separate from our editorial conclusions.

OUR APPROACH

Useful information, clearly sourced.

Our aim is to give UK buyers a clearer view of plug-in solar products, their specifications, current market information and real-world performance. We try to separate information we have measured or verified ourselves from specifications and claims supplied by manufacturers, retailers or other sources.

Where information changes over time, including prices, availability and compliance status, we update it where practical and show dates or update information where it helps readers understand how current the data is.

HOW WE ASSESS PRODUCTS

Different evidence tells us different things.

WattVerdict uses information from a number of sources. This can include manufacturer specifications, retailer information, public compliance data and our own measurements and observations.

When a product enters our testing programme, our own real-world test data is collected separately from manufacturer specifications or app-reported figures. You can read more about the process on our How We Test page.

EDITORIAL INDEPENDENCE

The relationship doesn’t decide the result.

WattVerdict may work with manufacturers, retailers and other companies operating in the plug-in solar market. These relationships can help us access products, maintain accurate product information and fund the work required to operate WattVerdict.

Commercial relationships do not determine our measured test results or editorial conclusions. Our job is to present the information we find in a fair and useful way for readers.

SUPPLIED & LOANED PRODUCTS

Access helps us test more of the market.

Manufacturers and retailers are welcome to supply or loan products for consideration for WattVerdict testing. This helps us test a broader range of systems and gives companies the opportunity to have their products assessed through the same core testing process.

Where a product featured in our testing has been supplied or loaned by a manufacturer, retailer or another commercial partner, we will make that relationship clear alongside the relevant content.

COMMERCIAL RELATIONSHIPS

How WattVerdict may make money.

WattVerdict is independently run. Some retailer links may earn us a small commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. This helps support the website and doesn’t determine which kits we recommend. We don’t accept payment for where a product appears in our comparisons.

Where commercial relationships are relevant to content, we aim to disclose them clearly. The existence or value of a commercial relationship does not change the data recorded during our testing or determine the conclusions we publish.

ACCURACY & CORRECTIONS

If something changes, we want to know.

The plug-in solar market changes quickly. Prices move, products are updated, availability changes and compliance information can be revised. We make reasonable efforts to keep WattVerdict accurate, but information shown on the site may not always reflect a change immediately.

Manufacturers, retailers and readers are encouraged to tell us if they believe information is inaccurate or out of date. We will review credible corrections and update the site where appropriate.
